2010 Quest Sml

Media Release 27th July 2010

Bundy Thunder quest entrants get busy for cause. Seventeen entrants who have nominated in the 2010 Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder Ambassador Quest were introduced to the public at the Sugarland Tavern in Bundaberg last Night.

The Quest will see entrants in the role of ambassadors for Queensland’s biggest power boat racing spectacular, conducting community fund-raising events for the next three months, prior to the racing action on November 6 and 7.

Funds raised by a range of activities including golf days, lock-up your boss and raffles, will go to the Leukaemia Foundation. Last year, more than $55,000 was raised by the Quest and Gala Pre-Race Party for the Leukaemia Foundation to continue its vital work in the community. Quest coordinator Pat Hooper says the challenge is on to exceed this figure in 2010.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is committed to supporting patients and their families in Bundaberg and across the entire state. In the last financial year, the Foundation provided approximately 40,000 nights of free accommodation to patients and their families who have to move to Brisbane or Townsville for lifesaving treatment. The Foundation is also committed to finding a cure for Leukaemia and each year invests more than $1 million into cutting edge research.

Locally, the Foundation has been able to offer much needed support to families in need. In the last 12 months, the Foundation provided almost 1900 nights of free accommodation to Bundaberg patients and their families.

Quest winners in eight categories will be announced on Friday 5th November at the Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder Gala Pre-Race Party in the Civic Centre. Major prizes include a P&O Cruise, and tropical North Queensland holiday.

The Wide Bay Australia Bundy Thunder Power Boat Spectacular is nationally
recognised as one of the largest and best events in the sport of power boat
racing.

Visitors feast on a unique atmosphere of action, throbbing engines, magnificent
paint jobs and interesting personalities when around 70 of Australia’s best drivers and teams come to Bundy in early November for 2 days of jam packed, high octane circuit racing on water.

The Wide Bay Australia Ltd BUNDY THUNDER Powerboat Spectacular is
benefiting from funding under the Queensland Events Regional Development
Program (QERDP).

The QERDP is an investment program designed to extend the flow of economic and social benefits of events to regional Queensland.

A state-wide initiative, the program is committed to enhancing existing events in
regional Queensland, as well as assisting in the establishment of new events.

Since the QERDP began in 2001, more than $15.3 million has been invested in
705 regional events, an indicator of the important role these events play in their
communities and wider Queensland
